Quite the Journey; JCSU's Joyner Bound for CIAA Hall of Fame
Charlotte, NC - Stephen Joyner is the head Men's Basketball coach at Johnson C. Smith. He's a three-time CIAA Coach of the Year. And he's a man responsible for the molding of young men and women. He's been in that role for more than 30 years, and he's won nearly 500 games in his 27 years as the head men's coach at JCSU. In February, Joyner will be inducted into the CIAA Hall of Fame for his work with the Golden Bulls. MyFoxCarolinas Sports Reporter Mike Leslie sat down with Joyner on Wednesday, before he picked up win No. 477.
A Message from Jerry Clark
I am so proud to be a graduate of Johnson C. Smith University and a member of the JCSU 100 Club. It gives me an honor and a pleasure to serve as President of the JCSU 100 Club.
I would like to take the opportunity to welcome all former athletes, alumni and friends and encourage you to become a part of our Club to help support and promote the athletic department of Johnson C. Smith University.
It is truly an honor and a privilege to serve as Vice President for the JCSU 100 Club.
While our primary goal is to raise funds for our Student Athletes, we realized that creating and meeting incremental milestones were critical to the journey.
We now know that branding the organization would be our first objective. To achieve this, the financial membership roster needed to grow. It was evident we needed to incorporate the services of the social media.
With the implementation of a website along with Facebook, the tools were formed to promote the Brand. The results were astonishing... In 2012, two monumental goals were met. We exceeded our membership goal of 100 and for the first time in the 100 Club's 46 year history a check was presented for $25,000 to the University.
We're moving in the right direction. The 100 Club will continue its diligence and has raised the bar for 2013. So, to our alums, our friends and our athletes, join us as we strive to make a difference. Let's hold high the "Gold & Blue" for our beloved University.
